New Safety Features Certified on Rodriguez Live Fire Complex

18-010 | Aug. 16, 2018

Camp Humphreys, Pyeongtaek, Republic of Korea — Gen. Vincent K. Brooks, commander of U.S. Forces Korea, visited Rodriguez Live Fire Complex on Aug. 15, 2018 to observe and certify improved safety features at the training area.

To continue safe training and respond to local citizens' concerns about range incidents, the U.S. invested $12 million USD in the complex. The improved safety features, which include modifications to bunkers surrounding the range, significantly increase protection of the nearby Pocheon community and surrounding areas.

“On this very day, 21 years ago I was on this range as a battalion commander. It is much safer now for the troops and especially for the citizens in the surrounding area of Pocheon.” He praised Eighth Army and 2nd Infantry Division, Republic of Korea and United States Combined Division, for “their patient work to resolve the concerns of the residents during the last five months."
