Combined Forces Command is modifying certain elements of this week’s Ssangyong exercise due to adverse weather, which have resulted in some unsafe training conditions.

연합사령부는 기상악화로 인한 안전 요건 불충족으로 금주예정된 쌍룡훈련의 일부를 변경한다.

U.S. and ROK leadership cancelled the amphibious landing portion of the training exercise, previously scheduled for April 5, after weather assessments indicated unsafe landing conditions for service members. Participating units in the air and sea portions will continue training as planned.

한미 지휘부는 기상관측후 장병들이 상륙을 진행하는 것이 위험하다고 판단하여4월 5일 예정된 쌍룡훈련의 일부인 상륙훈련을 취소하였다. 공중 및 해상에서 실시되는 훈련은 계획대로 진행될 예정이다.

“This was a good call by the on-scene commanders, who must balance readiness and risk – even in a training environment,” said Gen. Vincent K. Brooks, commander of Combined Forces Command.

“훈련 상황에서도 준비태세와 위험요소의 균형을 바로 잡아야 되는 현장 지휘관들의 좋은 판단이었다.”라고 빈센트 케이. 브룩스 연합사령관은 밝혔다.

Ssangyong, a key subset of the ROK-U.S. Alliance’s spring exercises, is a routine, bi-annual training designed to build and maintain fundamental military readiness throughout the Alliance.

쌍룡 훈련은 한미 동맹의 춘계 훈련에서 핵심적인 부분으로, 동맹의 군사적 준비태세를 함양하기 위해 계획된 통상적이며 격년으로 실시하는 훈련이다.
