Operation Pacific Reach Fact Sheet

YONGSAN GARRISON, SEOUL, Republic of KoreaCombined Forces Command and Republic of Korea forces will conduct Exercise Operation Pacific Reach from April 10 through April 21, 2017 at the Pohang Dogu Beach. This exercise is a training event focused on integrating ROK and U.S. Alliance logistics capabilities within air, land, maritime, space and information environments.

 

During Exercise Operation Pacific Reach, ROK and U.S. service members will practice conducting Area Distribution Center operations, Air Terminal Supply Point operations, as well as Logistics Over-the-Shore operations.

 

  • Area Distribution Centers serve as central locations to distribute essential items such as food, water and fuel

     

  • Air Terminal Supply Points are air transportation hubs used for loading and unloading supplies, equipment and personnel.

     

  • Logistics Over-the-Shore operations involve the transfer of cargo from the sea to shore through the construction of a temporary pier and temporary pipelines.

 

These logistics capabilities can be used during humanitarian assistance and disaster relief operations, contingencies or crisis response. Exercise Operation Pacific Reach 2017 (OPRex17) is defense-oriented and designed to enhance Alliance readiness to respond to such events.

 

Approximately 1,200 ROK Forces and 2,500 U.S. personnel will participate in OPRex17.

 

Participating U.S. units based on the Korean peninsula include, U.S. Forces Korea; Eighth U.S. Army; Commander, Naval Forces Korea; 19th Expeditionary Sustainment Command; 194th Combat Sustainment Support Battalion; 498th Combat Sustainment Support Battalion; 2nd Stryker Brigade, 2nd Infantry Division; 412th Theater Engineer Command; 658th Regional Support Group; 339th Quartermaster Company; 411th Contracting Support Brigade.

They will be augmented by U.S. personnel from the U.S. and bases in the Pacific region to include the Expeditionary Strike Group Three based in San Diego, Calif; 7th Transportation Brigade and the 10th Transportation Battalion based in Fort Eustis, Virginia, Maritime Prepositioning Ship Squadron Three based in Guam; Coastal Riverine Group 1 based in San Diego, Calif.; III MEF Expeditionary Force based in Okinawa, Japan; Naval Beach Group One based in Coronado, Calif.; Combat Logistics Regiment 35, based in Okinawa, Japan; 621st Contingency Response Wing based at Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst, N.J.

 

Combined Forces Command has a media day scheduled for Apr. 11, 2017.

 

 

Operation Pacific Reach 훈련 자료

 

한미연합군사령부와 한국군은 2017년 4월 10일부터 4월 21일까지 한국 동해안 포항 도구해변 일대에서 OPR (Operation Pacific Reach; 연합지속지원 FTX) 훈련을 실시할 예정이다.  이 훈련은 공중, 지상, 해상, 우주 및 정보환경에서 한미동맹의 여러분야의 군수전력을 통합하는 것에 중점을 둔 훈련이다.

 

이 훈련기간 동안 한미장병들은 지역분배소 (ADC: Area Distribution Center), 항공추진 보급기지 (ATSP: Air Terminal Supply Point), 해안양륙군수지원 (LOTS: Logistics Over the Shore) 훈련을 실시한다.

 

  • 지역분배소는 식량, 식수, 유류 등과 같은 필수적인 물품들을 분배하기 위한 가장 중요한 장소로서의 역할을 한다

     

  • 항공추진 보급기지는 공급물자들과, 장비, 그리고 인력을 싣고 내리기 위해 사용되는 공중수송허브의 역할을 한다

     

  • 해양양륙군수지원은 임시로 가설된 항구와 송유관을 건설하여 해상으로부터 해안으로 화물을 운송하는 작전을 말한다

     

이러한 군수전력은 인도적 지원을 제공할 때나 재난구조작전, 만일의 사태나 위기 대응시에 사용할 수 있는 전력이다. OPR 17 훈련은 방어적인 훈련이며, 한미동맹이 이러한 사태에 대한 대응 능력을 향상시키 위해 계획된 것이다.

 

이 훈련에는 1,200명의 한국군과 2,500명의 미군이 참가한다.

 

주한미군과 미8군 예하 여러 지원부대, 주한미해군, 그리고 미 본토 및 태평양 지역에서 증원되어 온 다수의 부대가 참가하고,  한국군은 국군항만운영단, 육군 제2군수지원사령부, 공군 공중기동정찰사, 해군 제5성분전단 등이 참가한다.

 

한미연합사는 4월 11일 포항 도구해안에서 미디어 데이를 가질 예정이다.
