Command Sergeant Major (CSM) Walter A. Tagalicud hails from Orlando, Florida. He entered the United States Army on August 1986 at Fort Benning, GA as an Infantryman.

CSM Tagalicud has served in numerous leadership positions to include the following: Team Leader, Squad Leader, Air Base Ground Defense Instructor, Recruiter, Platoon Sergeant, First Sergeant, Operations Sergeant Major and Command Sergeant Major.

His military education includes all levels of the Noncommissioned Officers Education System, cap-stoning with the attendance at the United States Army Sergeants Major Academy (Class 59). CSM Tagalicud is also a graduate of the following courses: Ranger, Recruiting, Instructor Course, Jumpmaster, Airborne, Air Assault, Nominative Leader Course, Keystone Course and other career enhancing schools.

His awards and decorations include: the Legion of Merit (2 OLC), Bronze Star Medal (4 OLC), the Meritorious Service Medal (3 OLC), the Army Commendation Medal (1 SOLC), the Army Achievement Medal (1 SOLC), Combat Infantryman Badge (1 OLC), Expert Infantryman Badge, Ranger Tab, Master Parachutist Badge, Air Assault Badge, Excellence in Competition Medal, Gold Recruiter Badge, and the German Parachutist Badge. He is also a recipient of the Order of Saint Maurice.

CSM Tagalicud is married to Carolyn Tagalicud and they have two daughters, Melanie, Stefanie and grandson, Carter.
