Command Sergeant Major (CSM) Walter A. Tagalicud hails from Orlando, Florida. He entered the United States Army on August 1986 at Fort Benning, GA as an Infantryman.

His military education includes all levels of the Noncommissioned Officers Education System, cap-stoning with the attendance at the United States Army Sergeants Major Academy (Class 59). CSM Tagalicud is also a graduate of the following courses: Ranger, Recruiting, Instructor Course, Jumpmaster, Airborne, Air Assault, Nominative Leader Course, Keystone Course and other career enhancing schools.
His awards and decorations include: the Legion of Merit (2nd award), Bronze Star Medal (5th award), the Meritorious Service Medal (5th award), the Army Commendation Medal (6th award), the Army Achievement Medal (6th award), Combat Infantryman Badge (2nd award), Expert Infantryman Badge, Ranger Tab, Master Parachutist Badge, Air Assault Badge, Excellence in Competition Medal, Gold Recruiter Badge, and the German Parachutist Badge. He is also a recipient of the Order of Saint Maurice.
CSM Tagalicud is married to Carolyn Tagalicud and they have two daughters, Melanie, Stefanie and grandson, Carter.
